Hi! I'm Rino, a part-time worker. 🙌🏽
Now that it’s October, we’re starting to feel the seasons change little by little, aren’t we? 🍂
How is everyone doing?
This season, often referred to as “autumn—the season of hearty appetites” or “autumn—the season of sports,” has so much to look forward to!
On the other hand, since temperatures fluctuate during seasonal transitions, this is a time when we should be mindful of our health.
In this post, I’d like to share some tips on taking care of your body during this time of year♪
Do any of you ever feel a heavy, achy sensation in your neck or shoulders after using your smartphone or computer for a long time?
In this post, we’ll introduce the muscles you should focus on in those situations, as well as some simple self-care routines you can do at home!
💆🏽♂️ About the Muscles in the Neck and Shoulder Area
The area from the neck to the shoulders contains large muscles such as the trapezius and levator scapulae!
The trapezius is a muscle that extends from the neck to the back and is involved in the movement of the shoulder blades. In addition, the levator scapulae connects the cervical vertebrae to the shoulder blades and serves to lift the shoulder blades.
Staying in the same position for long periods of time can put strain on your neck and shoulders, so it's important to move around frequently!
📍Easy Neck and Shoulder Self-Care You Can Do at Home
① Raising and Lowering the Shoulders
Slowly lift your shoulders, then let them drop suddenly. Focus on relaxing the muscles around your shoulders, and repeat this a few times!
② Shoulder Rotations
Lightly rest your fingertips on both shoulders, and slowly rotate your elbows as if drawing large circles. Try to be mindful of the movement of your shoulder blades, too!
③ Be mindful of maintaining proper posture
Be mindful not to let your head extend too far forward, and try to maintain a posture that minimizes strain on your neck—for example, by holding your phone slightly higher when looking at the screen!
⚠️ If you experience pain or numbness, do not force yourself to continue, and stop the self-care routine.
Finally, when you think of October, you think of Halloween, right? 🎃

October is here, and we’re starting to feel the change of seasons! 🍂 How has everyone been doing?
Autumn is known for its delicious seasonal foods and outdoor activities, so there’s plenty to enjoy this time of year!
At the same time, temperature changes can affect how we feel, so it's important to take good care of ourselves.
Today, I’d like to share some simple ways to take care of your body this season!
Do you ever notice that your neck and shoulders feel stiff or tired after spending a long time on your phone or computer?
Let’s take a closer look at the muscles involved and some easy self-care tips you can try at home!
💆🏽♂️ Getting to Know Your Neck and Shoulder Muscles
Two important muscles in the neck and shoulder area are the trapezius and the levator scapulae.
The trapezius is a large muscle that extends from the neck down across the upper back and helps control the movement of the shoulder blades.
The levator scapulae connects the cervical vertebrae to the shoulder blade and helps lift the shoulder blade.
Staying in the same position for too long can put extra strain on your neck and shoulders, so it’s important to take breaks and move your body throughout the day!
📍 Easy Neck and Shoulder Self-Care You Can Do at Home
① Shoulder Shrugs
Slowly raise your shoulders toward your ears, then relax and let them drop. Repeat a few times, focusing on releasing the tension in your shoulders!
② Shoulder Circles
Place your fingertips lightly on your shoulders and slowly move your elbows in large circles. Try to focus on the movement of your shoulder blades as you do this!
③ Check Your Posture
Try not to let your head lean too far forward. When using your phone, hold it a little higher so you don’t have to look down as much. Small changes like these can help reduce strain on your neck!
⚠️ If you experience pain or numbness, stop the exercises and don’t push through the discomfort.
