沖縄は少しずつ秋めいて来ている感じですが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？

今日のブログの内容は私が10月9日〜11日まで米国フロリダ州オーランドで開催されたカイロプラクティックセミナーに参加して来た内容です。今回のこのセミナーは私達LFCが主に扱うSOTという技術の大元の団体SORSIが開催したものでしたが、なんとSOTがDr. DeJanetteより発明されて100周年の記念セミナーでもありました。カイロプラクティックのセミナーに参加するのもだいぶご無沙汰で、約10年ぶりぐらいかと思います。今回のセミナーで主にフォーカスしたものは小児科カイロプラクティックのコースでした。

初日の9日木曜日開催されるホテルに到着して最初に目についた物はSOT100周年を祝福する横断幕でした。そして、その傍にはいくつかの名前が並べられていましたがその中に自分のカイロプラクティックの師匠であるDr. Nelson Decampの名前があるではありませんか！！3年前に亡き師匠でありますが、まだまだ技術的に未熟な自分が疑問や質問が出てきた時に誰にも聞けず悶々とした日々がありましたが、今回のセミナーでインストラクターの先生に幾つかの質問をして答えを得る事が出来ました。

セミナーではあまりにも膨大な内容で消化できない内容が多かったのですが、SOT界のレジェンド達が相次いでこの世を去っていく中、まだ現役で頑張っているドクター達からのこの素晴らしいSOTを継承して欲しいという情熱がすごく伝わって来ました。

また今回のセミナーで不思議な出会いがありました。Dr. Markは若い頃の1980年代に米軍海兵隊として沖縄に配属されたそうですが、その時に出会ったカイロプラクターがなんとSOTドクターだったそうです。その時の出会いでカイロプラクターになると決意したそうですが、彼は海兵隊を引退後にカイロプラクティックの博士課程に入り卒業後にはまた沖縄で90年代に働き始めたそうです。自分が知る限りでは、沖縄にいつも米国出身のカイロプラクターが在住していますが、そのカイロプラクター達はSOTを使っているという事です。私はこれからもSOTを用いて更に技術向上してこれからも患者様の為に尽くして行きたいと思います。

It feels like autumn is slowly approaching Okinawa. How are you all doing?

Today’s blog is about my experience at the chiropractic seminar held in Orlando, Florida, USA from October 9th to 11th. This seminar was organized by SORSI, the parent organization of SOT, the technique we at LFC mainly use. It also happened to commemorate the 100th anniversary of SOT’s invention by Dr. DeJanette. It’s been quite a while since I last attended a chiropractic seminar, about 10 years. The main focus of this seminar was pediatric chiropractic.

The first thing that caught my eye when I arrived at the hotel where the seminar was held on the first day, Thursday the 9th, was a banner celebrating the 100th anniversary of SOT. There were several names lined up next to it, and among them was the name of my chiropractic mentor, Dr. Nelson Decamp!! My mentor passed away three years ago, but as I was still technically inexperienced, I often found myself frustrated when I had questions or doubts and had no one to ask. However, at this seminar, I was able to ask the instructor a few questions and get some answers.

The seminar was overwhelmingly comprehensive, and much of it was incomprehensible. However, as legends of the SOT world continue to pass on, I was deeply touched by the passion of the doctors who are still active and dedicated to carrying on this wonderful SOT tradition.

I also had a strange encounter at this seminar. Dr. Mark was stationed in Okinawa as a young man in the 1980s as a U.S. Marine, and the chiropractor he met there was actually an SOT doctor. It was this encounter that inspired him to become a chiropractor. After retiring from the Marines, he went on to study for a doctorate in chiropractic, and after graduating, he returned to Okinawa to work in the 1990s. As far as I know, there are always American chiropractors living in Okinawa, and they all use SOT. I would like to continue using SOT to further improve my skills and continue to do my best for my patients.
