About osteoarthritis of the knee.

Hello!! This is Igarashi from Life Force Chiropractic. This blog post is about knee osteoarthritis.

Chiropractic Management for Findings and Symptoms of Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint condition marked by cartilage wear, joint-space narrowing, and altered biomechanics. Typical symptoms include knee pain during standing, walking, and stair movement, morning stiffness lasting less than 30 minutes, reduced range of motion, swelling, crepitus, and occasional instability. Examination commonly reveals medial joint-line tenderness, patellar discomfort, quadriceps atrophy, varus alignment, and tightness in the hamstrings or iliotibial band.

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper joint mechanics and reducing abnormal loading. Treatment includes gentle tibial and patellar mobilization to improve joint glide, soft-tissue release of surrounding muscles, and adjustments to the hip, pelvis, and ankle to correct kinetic-chain dysfunction. Strengthening exercises such as VMO activation, hip abductor training, and flexibility work for the hamstrings and calf muscles are added to support joint stability. These interventions help decrease pain, enhance mobility, improve gait, and slow functional decline in patients with knee osteoarthritis
